The Port Security Force of Sarand\u00eb (FSPS) is responsible for the security of the Port of Sarand\u00eb.
<\/strong>
Some facts about FSPS:<\/strong><\/p>


1.\tFSPS is tasked with protecting and maintaining the infrastructure, facilities, and assets of the port. The primary objective of FSPS is to create a safe and suitable environment for Porti Detar Sarand\u00eb and other operators within the port area 24 hours a day.
2.\tThis force was established following the approval by the Albanian Parliament of Law No. 9281 dated 23.09.2004 on \u201cSecurity in Ships and Ports.\u201d Other important steps that helped in the establishment and organization of FSPS included the preparation of legal and sub-legal acts. The assistance of the US government through ICITAP played a significant role in the work of FSPS during its creation and ongoing operations. Thanks to the commitment and seriousness of the Security Force and ICITAP, our port transformed from one of the most problematic to a high-security port, ranking alongside other European ports. The security plan of the Port of Sarand\u00eb is in compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the SOLAS Convention of 1974.
3.\tThe security plan of the Port of Sarand\u00eb was approved in January 2006 by the \u201cMinistry of Transport and Telecommunications,\u201d which established Security Level I.
4.\tThe security plan of the Port of Sarand\u00eb was updated in April 2021 by the \u201cMinistry of Infrastructure and Energy.\u201d
5.\tThis security plan is updated every 6 months to reflect infrastructure changes at the Port of Sarand\u00eb.
6.\tBy order of the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, No. 24, dated 08.01.2018, the Regulation \u201cOn the organization and functioning of the port security structure of Porti Detar Sarand\u00eb\u201d was approved, which is the basis of FSPS's work.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

MAIN DUTIES OF FSPS:<\/b><\/p>

1.\tGathering, assessing, and distributing information on security threats, and exchanging such information with the government and other national and international security authorities
2.\tMaintaining good communication with ships, the port sector, and preventing unauthorized entries into ships, the port sector, and other designated restricted areas.
3.\tPreventing the introduction of unauthorized weapons, incendiary devices, or explosives into ships or the port sector, and any item or substance considered a threat to the port.
4.\tEnsuring that the port's security plan and all other contingency and evacuation plans are up to date.
5.\tConducting training, exercises, and drills to ensure that all port users, port authorities, and local authorities are familiar with various security plans and procedures, and respond timely and professionally within the framework of these plans.<\/p>

In 2022, PDS focused on:<\/strong><\/p>

\u2022 Leadership and Engagement:<\/strong>
Throughout 2022, leadership across PDS was actively engaged and participated in various online training and seminars on workplace safety and health. The pandemic played a significant role in this aspect, as all relevant authorities' guidelines were to ensure that employees were provided with everything possible to minimize risk to their lives.<\/p>

Exchange of Learning Experiences:<\/strong>
PDS has always been open to any suggestion, material, or training to protect safety and health.<\/p>

Health and Safety Training:<\/strong>
Appropriate competence is a prerequisite for a strong health and safety culture. PDS employees are provided with training according to individual needs and work situations.
